PYMATUNING DAM REHABILITATION

Clearwater was contracted by the PA DCNR to rehabilitate the dam and gatehouse at Pymatuning State Park. Pymatuning State Park is the largest state park in Pennsylvania, covering more than 21,000 acres in Crawford County.

The $10 million dam repair project included rehabilitating the gatehouse’s structural concrete, new trash racks and sluice gates at the gatehouse, stone masonry re-pointing and grouting, new gatehouse windows and roofing, new drainage inlets, structural concrete repairs to headwalls and spillway bridge, repaving the ¾-mile roadway and two walls that run across the top of the dam, outlet channel dredging and rip-rap placement, bituminous paving, and putting down new stamped reinforced concrete sidewalks in the area. We also repointed a mile of historic stone wall, installed a mile of curbing and paved the half-mile Dam Road.

Clearwater also installed new Piezometers, installed water control measures in the Shenango River at the site, and regraded the banks of both the dam and the river.
