GEORGE B. FLEGAL DAM + RESERVOIR
Serving as a subcontractor to the Kanawha Stone Company, Inc., Clearwater Construction is responsible for the construction of an emergency spillway at the Cobun Creek Dam No. 1 and 2.
Cobun Creek Dam No. 2 is a proposed 74-foot high water supply dam located one mile south of I-68 along Upper Cobun Creek Road, Monongalia County, WV. The overall project also includes improvements to Cobun Creek Dam No. 1 located just upstream of US Route 119.
The finished structure will be about 80 feet high, 850 feet long, and roughly 440 feet wide. The dam will incorporate an overflow chute spillway and an 80-foot tall intake tower. A 48 inch water conveyance pipe will be built to the Morgantown Utility Board water treatment plant. The George B. Flegal Dam and Reservoir will hold 370 million gallons of water when full which is enough to supply Morgantown for 30 days.
